The Story So Far.

“In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Rare is a simple question resolvable with a simple answer. Truth, the small knowable portion of the Universe, is manifold. Like the complex genealogy of Veritas herself, truth is layers upon layers of internecine nested spheres of reality. Iterative notions cascading below and above the common human day to day experience. Legacies of discovery and causal chains of countless micro-decisions, building the real. If this prose is too purple or romantic, please accept my apologies but it will be a sincere and genuine stream of conscious — or at least as well composed one as this short attention spanned ape can muster. That said, they asked me a simple question, to describe why I wanted to become a software engineer. Yet true description is far from simple. It is a mélange of three core ideas that are deeply interconnected: legacy, altruism, and self-fulfillment.

So the last shall be first, and the first last” -Matthew 20:16

Self-fulfillment is the easy notion. Plainly, I love solving problems. Such drive is inborn, and almost borderline compulsive. Countless rooms have been made slightly better from some minor bit of mending or fixing. Perhaps some table wobbled from a miscalibrated leg, or an office chair armrest had a loose screw. Simple problems, that only needed a quick diagnoses and repair. How absurd then that a patently and plainly obvious fix could be applied — Yet no else before me had even bothered.

The Game gives you a Purpose. The Real Game is, to Find a Purpose.

“To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.”
